This website is a personal academic website maintained by Jakob R. Juergens. It provides information about my research, teaching, curriculum vitae, working papers, and related academic materials. This is a personal academic website. The listing of a university office address is for contact purposes and does not mean that the University of Wisconsin–Madison operates this website or is responsible for its content.

Email or postal correspondence may be retained as long as necessary for academic, administrative, or professional communication purposes, unless deletion is requested and no overriding retention interest applies.

This website is built with WordPress.
For ordinary visitors, I do not intentionally set advertising, behavioral-tracking, or analytics cookies. The site does not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, advertising cookies, or comparable marketing technologies.
The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, as described below. According to Cloudflare, this service does not use cookies or local storage to collect analytics information and does not create individual visitor profiles.
WordPress sets authentication and administrative cookies when an authorized administrator logs into the WordPress dashboard. These cookies are necessary for site administration and are not used to track ordinary visitors.
Other technically necessary cookies or similar technologies will be described here if they are introduced in the future.
7. Analytics and Tracking
This website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to obtain aggregate information about website usage and performance. The service provides information such as page views, visited URL paths, referring websites, general device and browser categories, geographic regions, and website-performance measurements.
Cloudflare Web Analytics uses a lightweight JavaScript beacon. Cloudflare states that the service does not use cookies or local storage, does not fingerprint individual visitors, and does not collect or use visitors’ personal data for Web Analytics.
I use this information only to understand aggregate interest in the website’s content, evaluate the performance and reliability of the website, and identify technical problems. I do not use it to identify individual visitors, construct behavioral profiles, serve advertising, or track visitors across websites.

This website may link to external websites, including academic profiles, repositories, publishers, arXiv, ORCID, Google Scholar, GitHub, and LinkedIn.
External websites have their own privacy policies and may process data independently when you visit them. I am not responsible for the privacy practices of external websites.
If embedded content from third-party websites is added in the future, such embedded content may behave as if you visited the third-party website directly. These third-party websites may collect data, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content.
9. Downloadable Files
This website provides downloadable academic materials such as my curriculum vitae, teaching materials, posters, and working-paper PDFs.
When you access or download a file, technical access data may be processed in the same way as when visiting any other page or file on the website.
10. Hosting, Security, and Content Delivery
This website is hosted using third-party technical infrastructure and is proxied through services provided by Cloudflare, Inc. Cloudflare provides content delivery, caching, security, bot and abuse protection, performance services, email-address protection, and Cloudflare Web Analytics.
Requests to this website pass through Cloudflare’s infrastructure. In providing these services, Cloudflare may process technical request information such as IP addresses, requested resources, timestamps, browser information, and security-related metadata. This processing supports delivery, security, caching, abuse prevention, and technical operation of the website.
Cloudflare Web Analytics is described separately in Section 7. Cloudflare states that Web Analytics does not collect or use visitors’ personal data and does not use cookies, local storage, or individual fingerprinting for analytics.

11. Data Sharing
I do not sell personal data.
I do not share visitor data with advertisers.
Technical data may be processed by service providers involved in operating the website, such as the hosting provider, WordPress-related infrastructure, content delivery networks, caching services, or security services. These providers process data only as necessary for operating and securing the website.
12. Retention
Technical server and security logs may be retained by the hosting provider or infrastructure providers for limited periods required for security, diagnostic, and operational purposes. I do not maintain a separate database of identifiable website visitors.
Cloudflare currently states that unsampled Web Analytics beacon data is retained for seven days and subsequently aggregated. Cloudflare makes Web Analytics information available to me through its dashboard for the preceding six months. These periods may change if Cloudflare changes the operation of its service.
Emails and postal correspondence sent to me may be retained as part of ordinary academic and professional correspondence.

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to request access, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, or objection to processing.
